Bouwsteen Energy is an East African based energy service company with headquarters in Nairobi. With a team having over 12 years of experience in the region, we design, build, finance, and operate solar-driven energy systems for businesses, institutions, and social infrastructure.

We deliver full-service solar PV and energy storage solutions, supported by flexible financing models (PPA, lease, loan) to ensure affordability and accessibility. Our solutions include system engineering, procurement, construction, operation & maintenance, and AI-driven energy optimization.

Our vision: To accelerate Africa’s clean energy transition with global innovation by delivering affordable, smart, scalable, and locally anchored solar solutions.

Our mission: To help clients achieve energy independence, reduce costs, and lower carbon emissions while maintaining reliable power even in grid-challenged environments. We combine deep local presence with international standards, enabling projects across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Mozambique.

Our Story

Bouwsteen Energy exists to create customer value by addressing key energy needs in East Africa

Bouwsteen Energy was created with one clear purpose: to accelerate East Africa’s transition to clean, reliable, and affordable energy.

Our journey began in Kenya more than a decade ago, when our engineers and project managers first started delivering solar installations across the region. Over the years, this team built a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and impact, completing projects for schools, hospitals, factories, farms, and commercial properties.

In 2025, we came together under a new name and brand: Bouwsteen Energy. Backed by our Dutch roots and driven by our East African base, we are evolving from an EPC company into a next-generation energy service provider. Our goal is to go beyond installations and offer businesses a holistic “Energy as a Service” approach, covering design, financing, management, and long-term sustainability.

We believe that access to clean energy is a cornerstone (“bouwsteen”) for growth and prosperity. That belief continues to guide us as we partner with clients and communities to build a resilient energy future for East Africa.
